Notes
Tom arrived in the village and found when the vhts were waiting for him at the chairman’s place. After a short meeting discussing about how the village is improving, they started moving around the village to check specifically on residents still working on their latrines. They started off at the chairman’s place where they found when the chairman and his son have started on a new pit for a new latrine. It was about 6ft deep and the chairman said he wants it to go up to 30ft. Like wise they found when Mr Mugabane Grace his neighbor has finished the pit and only remains with construction of the structure. Also there were many other homes were the pits are done as well as new latrines recently finished. Tom thanked the vhts for the great work they have done towards encouraging the community. In one particular home of a Muslim resident, he was so proud to show Tom his new pit for the latrine. This Muslim resident has never owned a latrine but on that day, he promised Tom that he will build a latrine that will earn him respect and dignity in the village. Tom thanked him and encouraged him to work hard and fulfill his dream. He was very happy and thanked Kibo for teaching about sanitation and hygiene in his village because he never thought he would ever dig such a pit for the latrine and now he wants to fully have a latrine in his home.
