Notes
Tom and the committee members started moving in the village from the trading center of the upper section towards the primary school. But after they had moved in a few homes, they reached the chairman LC3 ‘s home. In his home, there were two mud huts, a sub-standard latrine with no roof with mud walls, a short and sub-standard shower structure, no dish rack as well as rubbish pit. Tom was very shocked to find a chairman’s home in such a state and more so a chairman LC3. Tom called the health inspector to get the chairman’s cellphone number. After getting it, he called the chairman and he directed Tom and the committee members where to find him in his garden. They drove to the garden and they were able to get him and together they visited several homes on the lower section before driving back towards the trading center to his home. Tom and the chairman sat behind his two huts as they discussed about kibo, it’s work in the sub-county as well as kisiro village. The chairman said he knew kibo as well as Tom and other kibo staff members. Tom also spoke to him about the state of hygiene in his home and Tom discussed each facility and its purpose in a home. He was very nervous and ashamed at the committee members who were moving with Tom. Tom stressed the purpose of government officials being exemplary in their communities as well as engaging their communities when it comes to any program. Tom also encouraged him to be an example and influential which will help ease the work of the committee members as well as kibo. After the meeting, he thanked Tom for teaching him as well as encouraging him and promised to work and make his home a model home in the community by constructing new facilities. After there, they were able to move with the chairman to many other homes on the lower section where they found new pits being dug as well as dish racks being constructed.
