Notes
Introduction Lorna in today’s lesson talked about Love and relationships. Love is understood differently by everyone and so in today’s lesson we were to define what love is, the different kinds of love and also the qualities of love to find in a partner. Overview When Lorna arrived the village she was seeing many boba Bodas carrying people to a nearby village and when she asked to find out what was happening, she was told that someone had passed on and they were going for burial. Lorna was worried that the attendance would be low but those that managed to come, Lorna decided to teach those. The meeting opened with a word of prayer by a Samuel the youth leader because the chairman was not around as he was attending to a certain issue concerning land but he later joined the meeting. The meeting started with a review of the previous lesson on managing emotions and Lorna asked Samuel and Jackson to remind the rest of the community members that were not present but also to remind each-one of us that whatever we are studying is not just for cramming but that it can become part of their lives. The review on managing emotions was on managing anger and what they call “obwenzi” or adultery or womanizing since they had mentioned it previously as an issue. Today we however looked at Love; where we saw love as a doing verb, love being an action. It is one thing to tell someone you live them but are not acting on it and it’s another to do both. Lorna explained the categories of Love; - Love between husband and wife - Love between friends - Love between brother and sister. Lorna asked the group whether the kind of love you show a friend is the king of love one shows to their spouses or to their brother and sister and they said no it’s different. Lorna mentioned that however while courting or dating one starts by being a friend then goes ahead to tell their love for this person and their intentions and then marries them. However when married the love or affection sometimes they used to show this person before they married changes all of a sudden they are too busy and forget their responsibilities towards this person. Lorna encouraged them that the person you love you care about their feelings, you listen to them, trust them, and Lorna asked what else. They mentioned forgive them when in wrong, Be patient with each other , work hard among others. She asked them whether they are still doing this but the womens faces were that of disagreement. Lorna encouraged them that it’s not to late that they should support each other, cover each others faults , listen pray among others. Lorna mentioned also asked the young youth and teens present on what qualities they should look out for when looking for a partner. Lorna mentioned to them that this is not a lesson they should be out of but they should pay attention because this is where the6 we’re heading. One elderly man mentioned that young teens and youth these days rush into what they call love and even end up getting married when they are not ready and therefore the6 should pay attention to the lesson. Lorna asked them what some of these qualities are; Fiona mentioned He should have a lot of money , Mary mentioned He should be trustworthy and honest, another mentioned he should be patient. Lorna. mentioned to to Fiona that money can get over and then what will happen to the relationship?.However when we were in the middle of our meeting it was interrupted by politicians who came about to ask for votes and also the storm was approaching. One of the politicians gave the community members money to buy their votes while the second aspirant did not give them any money. The meeting was already messed as they were concluding. Conclusion Different members gave their opinions concerning love and relationships but the most common traits given were ; Patience, trust, forgiveness, Love and hard work. They will conclude this lesson in the next meet8ng before looking at Self esteem.
