Notes
Tom made a visit to kishaike Village check and encourage residents on facility constructions and improvements. Tom will also be meeting with the committee members to discuss about the coming evaluations at the end of the month. When he arrived in the village, he was welcomed by the chairman of the village who requested that they finish their elections in the village before. Tom accepted and waited at the meeting place for about thirty minutes and later he was joined by the chairman and five committee members. They first held a discussion about the progress of the program in which the chairman said that there has been an improvement since his evaluation of the village. He said there also some residents who went and collected pick axes from his home to start on new latrines. He also raised the issue of some pick axes and shovels getting lost on the village were some residents claim they don’t have the tools yet they were the last ones to use them. Tom advised that the chairman should follow up on all the residents that have used the pick axes and shovels before so that he gets more clarity in who used them last in order to be more informed on the issue. After the meeting, Tom and the committee members together with the chairman discussed about the final Evaluation at the end of the month. They all greed to follow up on the residents who are yet to finish their facilities to do so before the final evaluation. After they moved around the village and the highlight of the day was to find Mr Enock when he finished his latrine, roofed it as well as smeared it. Tom and the committee members were very happy for him. He had also constructed a hand washing stand with a jerican on it with water and soap. Mr Enock has been one of the difficult residents of kishaike village to get to work and improve on their homes. He had not any other facility in his home before kibo went besides a house to sleep in. To see him with a good latrine, kitchen, rubbish pit and hand washing stand in his home was very encouraging. Tom and the committee members encouraged him not only to end on those facilities but to even finish the dish rack and shower facility. Mr Enock said he was collecting poles and nails for the new dish rack and also promised to finish his shower facility.
