Notes
Alex together with the sanitation committee members met to plan for a village sanitation and water meeting coming up next week and to follow up on those specific homes that are still lagging behind in the village. They agreed that the meeting be scheduled for Friday 25/September/ 2020. They followed up on 18 homes in the upper part of the village and some in the lower section. On a very good note there was progress that was seen in some of the homes like Modo Steven had completed digging his new pit and was constructing a structure on it, his Father too had a new pit latrine under construction and Yasoni who for along time has been having an open pit measuring 35ft had bought all the materials to construct a permanent pit latrine for his family. Majority of the homes about 25 homes still lagging behind have already dug new pits but are being encouraged to construct on them. The hand washing stand is almost seen on every home and the remaining people are being encouraged to put cement on them. Those that received hand washing jerrycans from Kibo group use these Jerrycans and are seen placed on these new stands that have constructed either at the front of their homes or next to their pit latrines. Our target is to have all the remaining people complete their pit latrine construction by the second week of October and carry out a third evaluation of the village. A meeting scheduled for Friday is to continue engaging the village to work on their hygiene and sanitation facility construction for those still having work to do, maintain the sanitation standards and improve on the dish rack construction as this is still a bit of a challenge in the village according to the recent survey conducted . Alex will also hold a discussion with all water users about the plan to repair their borehole that is in desperate need as its at the verge breaking down any time soon. The village will be encouraged together with the sanitation committee members to contribute up to 35% funds towards this repair before Kibo group can top on the 65% for this repair to happen. The available borehole account balance is about 200,000/= as it was told by the treasurer and the village will need to contribute about 600,000/=. The village is willing to contribute all this since the need is very high for this village with more than 200 homes getting water from this borehole.
