- Notes
- Jeska and Tape found the participants waiting at the meeting place. The had planned to teach participants of group D how to practically build stoves.
They found when the members of group D had already identified Mwase Abuusi as a potential participant to get a first demonstration stove in their group. The participants said that they chose mwase because he had all the requirements for one to get a stove like a kitchen, a shower area ,a rubbish pit. They also said that he is very active in the program and he was the first one to bring the biggest heap of grass to be used to build stoves.
Jeska and Tape asked the participants to lead them to the anti hill, they collected the dirt for building stoves. They practically mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of one to two basins, they sprinkled water in the dirt. Kibo staff started stamping the dirt and asked the participants to join them to stamp the dirt until it was ready to make stoves.
They asked the participants to make small bolls out of the stamped dirt and moved them into the kitchen.kibo staff practically taught the participants how to measure banana stems. They practically built a demonstration stove at Mwase’s home as they explained the whole process to the participants.kibo staff also told the group to ask as many questions as they can so that they can learn how to build stoves.
When a complete stove was done kibo staff asked the participants to draw down a picture of how a complete stove should look like. Interestingly all the women failed and other men in the group but two men ( Mwase and Micheal) successfully drew a complete stove.
Kibo staff was very great full for the participants showing interest in the program and encouraged them to actively participate next time kibo staff is building a stove in their group because practice makes perfect.
