Notes
The community of Bukudumira is working so hard to improve on the sanitation and hygiene of the village. It’s been three months now, the village has been moving on its own to construct facilities, replace the broken ones and also maintain the facilities to a great standard. When Enock reached, he went to the chairman LC1 and VHTs home as the starting point to check on the progress of latrines constructed, teach standardization of facilities, maintenance of the facilities, use ash as well as to check on the homes which were left last year without latrines. There was an old man called Mr Baziliyo Ayazika who for more than 20 years in his life he has never had a latrine. He used to go in the bush behind his house. He was among Enocks target homes. When the old man saw us coming to his home, he smiled as he welcomed us to also check on his new latrine. They also saw about 7 new latrine pits which are being dug and waiting to construct on them. There was one pit which is about 50ft deep, he dug till he reached the water. When Enock interacted with him, he said he dug that deep because he doesn’t want to repeat the same thing again. This latrine will take him a very longtime before it’s filled. This shows how people are embracing the program and constructing sustainable facilities. There are also 6 new latrines well constructed, rubbish pits, kitchen areas, dish racks among others. There is also a lady called Ida Kagwa last year she didn’t have a kitchen area, she came requested Enock to talk to her husband. They had conversations where he accepted to construct a new kitchen for his wife. When Enock visited this home, the lady called him to see her new kitchen area well smeared. She thanked Enock so much for talking and encouraging her husband to construct a new kitchen. .

New latrine constructed in this village
This is also a new latrine constructed in this section.
A new latrine still under construction
A new pit and it’s about 16 ft deep. They are soon constructing on it
This old man is called Mr Baziliyo Ayazika. For a longtime this old man and his family they didn’t have a latrine. It has been like 20 years and they have been practicing open defection in the small bush behind there house. When I visited his home today, he was so happy to show me what he has done so far. A new latrine is under construction.
This lady is called Hadijja Namukose. After constructing all the facilities like latrine, shower areas, dish racks, rubbish pits, she also does another business of brick making. When I interviewed her she told me she makes bricks then sell them to get money to pay school tuition for her children. She has so far made 80,000 bricks and her target is to make 10,000 bricks. She is an inspiration to many women who think they are inferiors and they can not do anything like that. I was so impressed with her work.
This is a Latrine well constructed and they also managed to make a door for it.
A new kitchen and dish rack
A smeared kitchen area
