Healthy and Safe Kitchens
HARRIET and Jeska went to Naibowa village to guide participants of group B as they build stoves on their own. They found when the participants had already gathered materials that would be used to build stoves. Also the participants by consensus had chosen wambi Moses a s the member to get a stove for that day. The participants told kibo staff that the reason they chose him to get a stove is that he has been so rigid to any development program and when kibo invited him to participate in the Healthy and Safe kitchen program he welcomed the idea and has always attended the meeting. They also said that they wanted to show him love by giving him a vote to be among the first people to get a stove so that he would be more encouraged. The meeting begun with an open prayer that was led by pastor Wilber who thanked the lord for using kibo to unite them in their village. Kibo staff guided the participants to mix the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1. The participants stamped the dirt as kibo staff guided them. There after kibo staff guided them how to measure banana stems and Mr Mwase volunteered to take the lead. Kibo staff asked the group to lay the foundation of the stove. The participants made a very big foundation that would make the stove to be very tall and big which would use a lot of firewood. Kibo staff corrected this mistake by reducing the quantity of dirt the participants had put on the foundation. Kibo staff took over and asked the participants to watch the whole process to avoid making more mistakes which would even be hard to correct. HARRIET and Jeska built the stove as they explained the whole process to the participants. They asked the participants to always practice because practice makes perfect. When the stove was complete Mr.Wambi Moses thanked the group for extending love to him though he thought earlier that no one would welcome him in any development program. He thanked kibo for teaching his community to be good servants. As a sign of appreciation he served the entire group a meal to show that he is united with them. Kibo staff thanked the group for extending love to those who felt not loved in their community.
