Notes
Tom made a visit to kalalu village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements with emphasis on latrines construction, dish racks as well as hand washing. When he arrived in th village, he was welcomed by th committee members who first asked to hold a short meeting and discuss about some homes that are not responding to the program. The committee members suggested in the meeting that those homes will be given two weeks to see if some homes will start to work on their facilities and the chairman of the village said that if those homes do not respond, he was going to report them to the office of the health assistant. After the meeting, some members decided to move in their own without Tom to the upper section while Tom and other members moved to the lower section. As they moved, they visited homes encouraging them on facility construction. Some homes had facilities being constructed like the latrines. There were also new hand washing stands that had recently been constructed as well as dish racks. One of the committee members Mr Mulega has been active in the village to construct hand washing stands and dish racks for other committee members. Two members really appreciated his work and Tom also thanked home for the great work he is doing in supporting the improvement of the village. As Tom moved, he also saw new dish racks being constructed. They met one resident who was constructing a dish rack and was encouraged and guided on how to construct it with fewer nails. He was very happy as the new advise was to save him nails. Tom encouraged residents in homes visited to improve on their homes especially in areas that need more improvement.
