Notes
Jeska went Kalitumba village to follow up with some homes that had not smeared their home facilities, had leaking kitchens and some homes which lacked firewood risen stands for firewood storage. She reached in the village and asked the chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program Mrs Dina to volunteer and walk with her in the village as she inspects the progress of the healthy and safe kitchen program. This is because during the previous visit there were some homes that were still lagging behind and had promised to improve. So Jeska wanted to follow up with those specific homes and see whether they implemented what they promised. It was very interesting to see when most participants had smeared their home facilities that is bathrooms, kitchens and shower areas. Most people who lacked firewood risen stands for firewood storage had started putting them in place which was a sign of improvement. There were also two homes that had leaking kitchens but Jeska found when the participants had roofed them. The women thanked kibo for talking to their husbands by encouraging them to roof for them their kitchens. They told Jeska that before kibo talking to their husbands they had challenges of cooking when it was raining though they talked to their husbands they never took it serious but when kibo talked to them it was very easy for them to implement. Jeska encouraged the participants to keep on maintaining their facilities in order to look neat and last longer. The chairperson for the healthy and Safe kitchen program Mrs.Dina thanked kibo for sensitizing their community and to always encourage them to improve. She also told kibo that as a community they plan to start building stoves in the neighboring communities like Isiita village because they have approached them requesting for a service. The group also plan to start a saving scheme as a group in order to do more development things building on what kibo has already taught them. They plan to use the saucepans that kibo gave them as a group to form a catering group which will be hired out Incase there is any function.
