Notes
Enock and martin teamed up with the sub-county health inspector Mr Dauda who they picked from the government offices at the sub-county to visit Ibaako village. The sun-county health inspector also wanted to continue encouraging the people to work hard towards behavioral change and improve their sanitation so as he can also see how kibo has improved the sanitation of the community. When they reached the community, they teamed up with the Chairman and village committee to walk around, to check, sensitize, evaluate, monitor and emphasize the core values of sanitation and hygiene. They focused on standardization of all the facilities especially latrines, shower areas, dish racks, hand washing stations among other facilities to promote sustainability. They saw many new and strong latrines that are constructed with bricks, sand and cement in most of the homes in the around the trading center and roofed with iron sheets. This helps to prevent rains from destroying their structures and gives it firmness. The health inspector saw how kibo has created a great friendship and relationship with the community to work hard on their sanitation and hygiene. While walking around, we encouraged the community members to continue improving their sanitation, use ash in their latrines, dig rubbish pits and construct dish racks since the second evaluation showed most people not having those facilities. Our effort is now channeled to those facilities that have not moved for faster but they are so essential to proper sanitation. The health inspector also appreciated the work kibo group is doing and encouraged the local leaders to also continue taking the lead to encourage all the village residents who haven’t completed construction of latrines and other facilities.
