Tom made a visit to kalalu village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements. his emphasis will be put on encouraging residents about latrine constructions, dish rack constructions as well as continue with the encouragement of hand washing stand construction. The committee members will decide which section of the village to visit.
When he arrived in the village, he found that there was a funeral at the nearby village and where some committee members were going to attend. On the lower section of the village, on of the residents there had lost a mother whose body they were just waiting for. Tom suggested to the few community members that the follow up to be made shorter so that they can have time to attend the burial.
Right after sharing the plan, the started moving and they moved to a section of the village that was affected so much with the rains that come recently in the village.
In that section of the village, they found new pits being dug in order to replace the old collapsed latrines as well as the shower facilities. Tom guided the residents on better construction methods in that section of the village so that the latrines can last longer even through a storm. Tom also found some new dish racks and also encouraged them on the new model of dish rack construction.
Together with the committee members, Tom gave those residents who have finished their new hand washing stands new jericans and the residents were very thankful and happy. From that section of the village, the also moved to the trading center where they found a new latrine being constructed. Tom advised the resident to use better logs on the latrine and construct the walls with bricks to give it durability. The resident was thankful for the advice. Tom later left the village but visited several homes along the way as he exited the village.
