Notes
Irene went to Budumba village to teach about childhood illness basically causes, signs and symptoms, prevention, and the treatment. The meeting started with a ward from the VHt who encouraged members to keep working together so as to make their village shine and to take the kibo programs seriously because they aim at transforming their villages. He thanked kibo for all the efforts and encouraged the organization to extend more services to their village. Irene was welcomed to talk to the members. She started with a review of the previous lesson then introduced the next lesson as childhood illnesses basically teaching about pneumonia. Irene started with asking the community members about the meaning of pneumonia Gertrude said it’s bad cough with difficult in breathing, when a baby has difficulty in breathing Otim said and other suggestions, on addition to that Irene said the difficulty in breathing is associated with chest in drawing, and wheezing, giving several other signs and symptoms for better understanding. On addition to that the members also discussed another the causes of pneumonia suggesting smoke from open cooking areas as the number one cause in their area and exposure to cold conditions for a long time, reoccurring coughs and cold ,low immunity and poor feeding among the causes. Irene together with the members suggested that saving stoves have solved most of their problems pneumonia being one of them, members also suggested saving some money for beddings and heavy clothes to use during cold conditions. Irene also urged members to always seek for medical help each time they are sick to avoid complications.
