Learning Objectives
To educate the parents the Skills on how to communicate to their children during their adolescent stage.
Notes
Introduction Manuela went to Kivule village to teach about the importance of parents talking to their children during their adolescent time so that they take good care of them selves without becoming victims of early pregnancy and early marriages. This lesson is very important to parents because they come to understand that it’s always good to educate and talk to their children as early as 12 years. Overview Manuela reached the village found members already waiting for her, she greeted them due to time Manuela requested the LC1 to open the meeting, it started with an open prayer lead by Joyce, after that Manuela went straight to the point, she asked them how many people have children whom they take care of all the members raised up theirs hands, then she also asked them again how many of you take time to talk to those boys and girls? No response. Manuela introduced the lesson to the community members she told them that they are going to learn about Adolescent and Puberty stage, this period means the time when the youth are experiencing some changes like developing breast, menstruation, pubic hair, hips and widening of the bums and cheats of the boys, those changes comes with a lot of challenges for young people that is why they need time to be talked to. Manuela went on and told the participants that children need their attention during that time because they may not know what they are going through and they need to be told by their close guardian so that they understand those changes and manage them. Manuela also told the participants that when children are aware of those changes then they will never be afraid of any problems but only manage. Manuela discouraged parents from sending their children to their unties because some of them are shy may not be open to tell the youth what is right. During this session there were some youth around and Manuela appreciated them for coming she told them to inform others too to come next time. Reactions One of the community members surged that for them what I have told them is the work of the the unties and uncles not parents, then the other person said no, since Manuela have told them the importance of parents being with their children more especially during their adolescent time they are going to change, they start to be with them. Manuela told the youth not to be scared of theses body changes because everybody went through those changes including their parents and her , Manuela said during that time they need to be careful because most girls and boy do drop out of the school due to pregnancy and early pregnancy which is bad. Manuela went on and also told them to pass what ever they have learnt today to their fellow youth. Finally, Manuela encouraged the participants to adopt new culture than the old one so that they can prepare their children well so that to reduce the rate of early pregnancy and early marriages. 
Next Visit
2020-10-30 - Purpose: Since adolescent and Puberty stage is a lesson under decisions making and it was requested by community members. On that day Manuela will resume Relationships Skills lessons and she will teach about how to manage emotions.
