Healthy and Safe Kitchens
HARRIET went to Naibowa village to follow up on smearing progress, stove usage especially those with dry stoves and guide participants as they remove banana stems from the stove that was previously built. She reached in the village and was received by the Chairperson LC1 Mr. Lubale Wilber who thanked kibo for loving their village through frequent visits and teaching. Harriet asked Wilber to volunteer and walk with her through the homes of the participants as she checks on smearing progress and stove usage especially those whose stoves have completely dried out. It was very interesting to see that most people with stoves have smeared their stoves and kitchens. However they are some participants who had only smeared their kitchens only outside and left the inside walls of the kitchens un smeared. Harriet encouraged them to smear the entire kitchens so that they look neat and last longer. Also some people with dry stoves had started cooking on them however some did not know whether their stoves were dry so that they start cooking on them. Harriet inspected them and told the participants and told them to start cooking on them. After the participants and kibo staff gathered in a home where a demonstration of removing banana stems was going to be Carried out.Harriet guided the participants and they removed banana stems from the previously built stove. She also told the participants to remove the dirt that was stuck inside for the stove to be effective. She later asked the participants to shape the stove and smear it in order to look neat and last longer. The participants thanked kibo for patiently teach them though they have always made mistakes. She asked them to keep on practicing because practice makes perfect.
