Notes
They walked around this village in a particular section to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, shower areas, rubbish pits, kitchen areas, cloth lines, hand washing facilities and more. They also checked on the use of these facilities if they are in place, taught them how to maintain them, use ash in latrines to chase flies out and reduce bad smell that attracts flies inside the latrine hence moving germs from one place to another causing diseases like diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera which may kill them. To avoid all these problems of even loosing their beloved ones, they need to wake up and improve on the sanitation and hygiene of there village. This is done by constructing good standard facilities, proper disposal of feacal matter, use of dish racks to dry the utensils, use of hand washing facilities to wash there hands after visiting the latrine and before eating anything. There are two new latrines well constructed in some homes, 6 new latrine pits constructed, two well smeared kitchen areas and 3 shower areas. There are about 10 homes which had open defection in their back yard. Enock met with them and talked about that issue of open defection, they promised to pick the pick axes and start right away digging latrine holes. The chairman and VHTs said that they will continue walking around to encourage and monitor the progress of latrine construction and other facilities in the days that Kibo is not in the village.
