Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit to this community to hold a meeting with all local leaders say LC1, committee members and VHTs. The meeting was scheduled at 2pm when all the leaders are back from their gardens. We had also invited the police officer to team up with us so that all the energy is put together to move the village. Since the meeting was meant to start at 2pm we arrived earlier to walk around in homes checking in the sanitation and hygiene improvement, encourage, monitor, evaluate the construction of latrines, hand washing station, dish racks and standardization of all the facilities. We saw some newly constructed latrines, hand washing stands, showered we encouraged them to get iron sheets to roof or use grass. The people in this community are embracing the new model of hand washing although some have a challenge of not having cement. We are encouraging them to buy at least 2 kilos of cement add some sand to construct strong hand washing stands. As we walked with the police officer she was also encouraging and teaching the residents to accountable for there promises to complete all there sanitation and hygiene facilities in time. so After the walking around, we went to the meeting place where the chairman and few committee members we spoke about the core values of the program and encouraged behavioral standardization of all the facilities, encouraged the local leaders to focus more on the homes which are still constructing new latrine to complete them and use proper materials to for sustainability. We reminded the leader on the many diseases which are brought due to poor sanitation, talked about the challenges of poverty since they use allot of expenses on medical treatment of their children and less saving. The local leaders are were so happy for the meetings and willing to work hard to empower all there residents to improve all the facilities and in two weeks they will have completed all the facilities more so the latrines, shower, kitchens areas, hand washing stations before the we plan to carry out the third evaluation. They have embraced the program.
