Notes
Alex was in Butabira village to meet with the village leaders, water and sanitation committee members to prepare for the borehole repair expected soon. Kibo group has already procured the required parts from a supply company in Kampala. He met with the village leader, Mr. Buyinza Charles and three other committee members to talk to them about the plan to repair the broken borehole. Unfortunately the rains of the day couldn’t allow Alex and the committee to move around the village to check on sanitation standards in specific homes as he had planned. However, the leaders were encouraged to continue with follow up on the sanitation improvements and maintenance in the village during this prolonged rain season that is most likely to affect some facilities. The village leader reported of three pit latrines that collapsed the three days due to the rampant rains. It’s raining in the village almost every day and this has made work on sanitation improvements very hard. The borehole repair is expected on Friday 13/11/2020 and as well the sanitation committee was told to continue follow up on those specific homes as we prepare for the third survey next week. The leaders are very happy that soon this borehole will be fixed permanently and the village start to enjoy clean water once again.
