Introduction Manuela went to Kivule to teach about roles and responsibilities. These lessons are taught to remind the community members of their responsibilities in their different homes. Because they know but some times they do forget. Overview Manuela was happy when she arrived in the village, she found some members waiting for her in their usual place, she greeted them and requested for chairman that they should start, one of the members prayed and after that Manuela requested one of the community members to review the previous lesson, this was done by one of the members and a woman, it was good to see a woman explaining to the fellow members about what they learnt previously. After that they appreciated her . After that Manuela was pleased and introduced to them the lessons of the day, Manuela said they are going to learn about gender roles and responsibilities, she asked them that what is gender? They said that gender means sex a man or a woman Manuela went on and asked them again that what are gender roles, some of the members stated that it means the different roles that are played women and men in different homes. Manuela asked the members to list the roles of women, as seen below, To cook food, washing clothing, bear children, teach the children manners, to keep the home clean and finely to take good care of their husbands and children. Manuela again asked them to list the roles of a man at home. To protect the family members, provide for the family members, build a house pay school fees and among others, Manuela went on and explained to the community member that it would be good if a man and a woman come on the round table and discuss on how they can share those roles so that they can develop their homes quickly. Reactions from the community members As members where discussing these ideas, women where tough on men that all that is listed they don’t perform any , one of the woman said that, these days men are looking for already made thing for example she said most of their men have left to look for working class women who have everything at the table. They no longer provide for their families but they wNt to be spoon fed. Then Manuela asked the men is that true ? No response from men, that means some of them do that , Manuela advised the men to take up their responsibilities as heads of the family, she went on and said that more especially during this Corona Virus they should work together to build more relationships and development for the betterment of their families. Towards the end of the lesson, members agreed to share responsibilities so that they can develop their homes.
