Notes
Martin and Enock went to Ibaako, they walked around the village with the Chairman LC1 and the sanitation committee members. Their intention was to check on the sanitation and hygiene improvement in the section near the vocational school as well as those homes on the other section which didn’t have latrine but they where constructing. There are new dish racks constructed although some homes still a have challenges of no poles to cut down from making dish racks. Some people are planning to just get money and buy pole or buy already made dish racks. The has been good improvement in this community in terms of sanitation facilities and usage. There are many new good latrines constructed, kitchens areas, shower areas and hand washing stations. We encouraged them to continue using cement on their facilities to make the structures strong and resistant from heavy storms. The sanitation team also gave us a report of how the people on the other section have worked and improved there facilities. There is also an old woman who was so happy to have a new latrine, she called us to visit and guide how to use ash and also guide her how to build a new hand washing stands next to her latrine. We taught her how important to wash hands before and after using the latrine. The children who are still on holiday were encouraged to help there parents with construction of all the facilities, continue cleaning their homes and learn from there parents when they grow up and have families, they promote sanitation. After walking around we hurried to leave this village since one of the presidential candidate from the opposition of the government called kyagulanyi sentamu Bobi was going to come to there district and man people where walking to the venue and leaving there homes to go and see him. We are planing to visit the other remaining homes on the next visit on Friday.
