Lesson Taught
Health lesson 14: Domestic Violence
Notes
Ida and Diana were in Maliga to teach about how to reduce on domestic violence in the community. Ida started with a recap on the causes, effects of domestic violence. The community vigilantly answered, this really proved that they understood the lesson. This is because of the answers that were raining in. Ida later invited Diana to take teach about how to reduce domestic violence in the community. Diana thanked the community for being such an active class. She asked them how they handle domestic violence in their community, one gentleman Isabirye said, for him, he sits with wife and they discuss the issues arising in their family, the group agreed to it, saying it is the best thing to do. Diana added on their point that is, sharing parental responsibilities like bathing the children while the other is cooking, paying school fees, making money decisions together, don’t shout at your spouse, admitting being wrong, this sparked off a discussion whereby women accused men of not being apologetic, the men said it depends on the mood of the women, they are sometimes rude. To add on that they don’t welcome them back or remove the bags from them. The women responded,it is because they don’t apologize. This topic became really interesting as both sides reacted, as controlled them so that we don’t go off truck. Diana captioned every body to respect one another, not calling others names in public, paying good for evil, Loving one another like the Bible says. Ida added on the point of love by reading for them 1st Corinthians 7:2-5. Everyone screamed on the points that were being read in this book. They were happy and they said they will do what the word of God is saying. The community was grateful to the lesson that was being brought to them, they really appreciated. One lady Lydia, who is a nurse thanked us, and requested that these lessons should be extended to their children, because they are really good topics. Ida. Concluded by encouraging everyone one to love one another, train up their children in a heathy environment of love and respect, and also to know the signs of an abuser, which are, heavy drinking, violent temper, too much Jealousy. The whole topic was really interesting.
