Notes
Enock made a visit to this community to continue checking, sensitizing monitor, evaluate and guide the community members how to construct sustainable and standardization facilities. As he reached, he went to the meeting place where he teamed up with the chairman and VHTs to walk around their village. We first had a small meeting to know the whole picture of the village as well as knowing if there are new facilities under construction or need more advise on how to construct good standard facilities. There are some families who have greatly embraced the construction of two hand washing stations one just at the entrance in their compound yard where visitors have to clean there hands with soap before shaking hands, they also constructed another next to the latrine area. This was a good gesture to encourage all other residents to also do the same as their fellow resident. There are some new rubbish pits dug and in use. The chairman and VHTs also encouraged the kids to help there parents clean jerrycans, sweep the compound as their parents look for food. Enock emphasized the impact of children in the behavioral change in the society where he encouraged them to also take the lead to educate their fellow friend to embrace proper sanitation and hygiene in their community. He reminded the children on the many diseases caused by poor sanitation say diarrhea, cholera, typhoid and dysentery which lead to a lot of medical expenses hence a major factor to poverty and less savings. Enock also encouraged families to take all the lessons concerning sanitation and hygiene seriously to help them develop both socially and economically. We saw some new dish racks constructed, guided them on how to construct and build strong sustainable facilities. The community members and all the residents are super appreciative for every lesson and opportunity they have to listen from the kibo group way team that has educated them.
