Notes
Irene went to Budumba village to make a follow up on the different homes, checking on the hygiene, observe for nutrition, pregnant women , and those that have given birth to counsel them on how to prevent sepsis, proper breast feeding techniques, and the best ways of weaning babies. Irene was welcomed by the chairperson and the VHT and together with the VHT Irene moved to the different homes in the lower section of Budumba village sensitizing members on being clean, washing and keeping latrines clean, washing beddings, and clothes, helping children maintain proper hygiene and grooming their hair, cutting short nails and washing hands before and after meals, Irene then advised the different pregnant mothers on the benefits of taking medication provided for prophylaxis because most of them were saying antimalarials make them vomit and have been told that it’s not good to take medication when pregnant. Irene helped the different pregnant women to understand that not all medication is recommended when pregnant though it’s important to seek medical advise and avoid self medication. Irene also encouraged the mothers that have given birth to go back for postnatal care and examination so as to monitor the healing progress. As Irene and the VHt continued to move they came across a home where the mother had placed her plates down on the ground with out a mat laid and eating in the same plate with her son whose hygiene was also not good and he had dirty wounds so Irene also ad used accordingly. After moving to several homes Irene asked the VHt to continue monitoring the homes so as they maintain and improve in the areas discussed.
