Notes
Suzan went to Bupeni to follow up on the maintenance of the program facilities and the stove usage. When they arrived there, they went to the community hall and found a few members gathered with their group chairperson. They were warmly welcomed to the village and together they first sat down and discussed about the progress of the program activities and challenges they were still facing. One of the challenges that they were facing was the rains which kept on washing off the smeared dirt from the buildings and also destroyed some latrines, shower areas and kitchen roofs. The termites also ate their dish racks and firewood storages. The chairperson informed Kibo staff how some members were struggling to put up new facilities. Others had maintained their facilities because they used good quality materials to build them. Later after they got up and began moving home to home while monitoring the stove usage and other facilities. Most members were found cooking on their improved stoves although some of them needed to be repaired and smeared. Other members had constructed stronger firewood storages and saved enough firewood on top of them which was enough to take them for some time. About three kitchens needed to be repaired and roofed because they had big openings on the top which would let the rains destroy the stoves easily. Suzan and Tape encouraged the members to continue improving and repairing all their facilities because it was of their own benefit and would help them live a better healthy life with their families. They also requested them to always continue cooking on their new stoves on a daily basis so as to avoid challenges they faced before while cooking on the old three stones stoves. Some members promised to do so as soon as possible, especially those with leaking kitchens and then thanked Kibo staff for the advice given to them that time. The meeting was adjourned until on the 11th of December.
