Notes
Suzan went back to the village to follow up on the stove usage, smearing of the houses and the construction of the firewood storages since most of the members needed to improve on some facilities. When she got there, she went direct to the chairperson’s home where she got him sitting and discussing with some of his committee members issues concerning the development of their community. She was warmly welcomed and together they first sat down and began discussing about some activities going on so far. The chairperson informed Suzan that most members were waiting for the rains to stop so that they would begin repairing their facilities. Others managed to construct the firewood storages inside their kitchens and had also smeared their fuel stoves because all the facilities were inside the kitchen. Later after they got up and began walking around the village while monitoring different facilities. Suzan observed that most stoves which had previously cracked all over had been repaired and neatly smeared, and some members had put up the firewood stands which were stocked with enough firewood. Although it was time for the participants to receive incentives as a sign of appreciation for participating in the program activities, most members needed to first improve on their facilities which were destroyed by the rains. And so Kibo staff had to give them more time to do so as soon as the rains stopped. During the monitoring process,Suzan came across one of the participants who used to save his money whenever they built stoves at the neighboring villages, the member mr. Kato started a small business of rearing rabbits which was so impressive to see. He went ahead and explained to Suzan how he badly wanted to expand his business together with other fellow members who got interested. Suzan thanked them for the new ideas and encouraged them to always maintain the same teamwork spirit of working together for an effective development in their community. The members were so grateful for the advice given to them that day and then wished one another a happy healthy life and Suzan left the village.
