Notes
Introduction Lorna went to Nawampiti where she taught on the Bridge model. The Bridge model refers to the mode of transferring information to trigger behavioral change. This Bridge model is a very crucial part of the Life Skills Program because after all the Skills have been taught , the information received should lead to change of behavior and we will be looking at how in the overview. Overview Before the meeting, the youth group asked of a Lorna to move with them so that they could go ahead and show her their project. Lorna moved with them and was very inspired but they said it was because of the encouragement and lessons Kibo taught through life skills that inspired them to start something. They mentioned some challenges anticipated like the sunshine, lack of watering cans in the dry season among others. Lorna encouraged them not to give up to work hard and despite some challenges they need to press on and overcome. After this, we went back to the meeting place. At the meeting place, we had an opening Prayer and then had a review of the previous lesson which was led by Betty on personal hygiene. Thereafter Lorna was invited to teach them. Lorna greeted the community members and thanked them for giving land to the youth group and that they should continue supporting them in anyway so that even other youths in the neighboring communities will emulate them. On the topic of the day Bridge model , Lorna asked them what a Bridge is in lusoga and they mentioned Olutindo”. Lorna asked them the use of Olutindo and they said to get one from one point to another. Lorna then thanked them for their responses and mentioned that it was exactly that. She mentioned that in Life Skills, we have what we call the Bridge model and it involves all the Life Skills we’ve learnt covering HIV/ AIDS awareness, Communication Skills, Decision making Skills, Relationship Skills among others. Lorna used pictures to explain this lesson. She said that the community members have got all the information to live a healthy positive life but it’s possible for them to have all this information and still not put it in use . She asked them what her this was possible and they mentioned yes. She gave an example of gender roles and what we learnt during this topic and said it’s possible that we all learnt but it’s possible to still continue acting opposite which will make the other people involved suffer which is not a good positive healthy life. She gave another example of HIV/AIDS where we learnt transmission, prevention etc she asked whether it was still possible for one to contract HIV even after this information and they said yes. Lorna ga e another example on communication skills and reminded them being assertive was the best communication style for a good positive healthy life. Therefore in order to cross the bridge to get to the other side, there needs to be behavioral change and this is got by putting up planks on the bridge which planks are Life Skills. Conclusion She also mentioned that should relapse happen, there should be people to guide you back on the course through counseling among others. She told the community to make use of this knowledge they have received and put it to use. This will help prevent the question of what have you been studying yet one’s behavior is still the same even after 9 months of the program. The community was so grateful for this lesson and promised to put whatever they have learnt in use.

Program Success
Nawampiti youth group managed to start up a crop and poultry project and even though its still small, it is promising. They bought 3 cocks and 1 hen which so far has 5 chicks. They also had a meeting with their parents requesting for some lad to plant some crops. They will be planting eggplants and another vegetable which are already in the nursery bed soon to be transplanted. They mentioned that all of this was inspired by Kibo’s lesson especially this corona season where kids, youth have been home with nothing to do and so they started a group with different skills to help them keep busy but also raise money for themselves and not be tempted to early pregnancies, marriages among others.
