Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit in this community to continue checking on the progress of sanitation improvements, encourage the residents to maintain and construct good standard facilities, monitor, educate the core values of sanitation and hygiene, remind the residents about the many diseases that occur due to poor sanitation say diarrhea, cholera which can kill the whole community if they continue practicing open defecation. Enock and Martin met the LC1 chairman and the whole sanitation and hygiene committee. There has been a great improvement and development in this community, many new latrines, shower areas, kitchen areas, dish racks and many new hand washing stations which are under use. We encouraged the residents to use cement on all the hand washing stands, use cement for the top of the shower areas and make good floors as well as proper drainage systems. There are many new facilities which are well constructed and we encouraged how to maintain all the facilities. There are some homes which are now working on dish rack construction after finish up the construction of latrine, they asked us to advise them how to construct a strong and effective dish rack. Enock and Martin tasked the committee to take the lead in monitoring and encouraging the fellow residents to improve their sanitation standards, walk around even though the kibo wash team is not on ground. During the visit, many women appreciated the progress of the program, since most are now having latrines and clean homes.
