Notes
Irene went to maliga to continue with her follow up. Irene and the VHT moved to the lower section of maliga moving from home to home, observing for proper hygiene, malnutrition, mothers antenatal cards, advising them to go for return visits, children’s hygiene and other health related issues as observed. Then as they continued Irene came across a mother called Sylvia who is seven months pregnant but has never gone for antenatal visits, so she fell sick and went to a nearby clinic and she was told she had malaria in pregnancy, she was given medication and advised to go for antenatal but has never gone because since she started having her babies she has never gone for antenatal services.this would be the 6th pregnancy and she has 3 live children. Irene talked to her about the benefits of visiting the hospital when pregnant and after , also taking children to hospital and she promised to go for an examination before giving birth, also promising to have that baby from the hospital because she wanted to see a difference between having children in the hospital and at home. After the door to door visits Irene asked the VHt to continue monitoring the different homes as observed and encouraging the different mothers to visit the hospitals even after they’ve had their babies.
