Lesson Taught
Bible Lesson 8: Teaching Children
Notes
Ida and Diana went to Nawandyo A to teach about good and bad parenting. Ida started by encouraging the community to put on the masks, because Covid is rampant. She took them through a recap. They actively answered every question that was asked. Diana thanked the community for being active and later introduced the the lesson of the day. She asked the community what they understand by bad parenting, Carol said to her bad parenting is beating the child, and good parenting is Loving the child. Diana added on, that bad parenting is shouting at the child while correcting them, beating the child all the time, taking drugs before the children, emotional neglect, using threats to correct children. This is all bad parenting. Good parenting involves a lot, the parents have to be there for their children, the parents have to actively listen to their children and not ignore them when they have a point to make, show good judgement and stick to your rules, stay in control of your emotions, show lots of love during quality time, parents should hug and appreciate their children so that they don’t get these hugs from strangers. Diana explained all these parenting skills to them. Ida continued with the same topic, she encouraged the parents to teach their children words like thank you am sorry, they should avoid quarreling before the children, when talking to the children, maintain eye contact in doing this you can easily tell a child who is lying. Parents should also note that children imitate what they see. Therefore they should be careful in what they do before the children. The chairman thanked Kibo staff for the great work done, most especially the last topics have greatly touched them. He says via discipline, Nawandyo A was worse, but now, it has greatly changed. Muhammad the secretary also thanked Kibo, and requested us to convey their thank you message to the Country Director of Kibo, fo allowing his team to be in Nawandyo A. They are happy as people of Nawandyo A, the toilets and kitchens are doing well, the hygiene has greatly improved and the discipline is okey, people no longer spend time in rumor mongering. Other villages admire them. He encouraged the community to keep the light burning in Nawandyo A.
