Notes
Alex was in Ndhalike to check on the progress of the new borehole fence being constructed at the new well. In a very good note it was fully completed a few days ago and indeed its one of the strongest wall fence so far the fact that it was reinforced with metal bars. This wall fence has been constructed under partnership of the kibo group and the village towards the two boreholes that have been given to this community by Kibo group. The sub county chief, health assistant and the CDO are very happy for the work done at this community and were amazed with the new idea of a wall fence at the borehole in Ndhalike. All the leaders at the sub county promised to roll out this idea to the rest of the communities in the sub county. Alex was also happy finding the old well also repaired after several weeks when it had broken down. The water user committee has vowed to have this kind of wall fence constructed at the old borehole as well so that both wells serve well their village with clean and safe water. The water user committee appreciated kibo group for the partnership and were proud to tell Alex that this kind of fence is the first of its kind in the sub county of Namwendwa. The water users committee was told to play a key role in ensuring that all water users take good care of the boreholes and maintain a safe water chain in the village. They were also encouraged to have the lower borehole also have a similar fence like for the new borehole. Kibo contributed 450,000/= towards this work and the village has raised more than 800k to construct the fences. The lower borehole has all the bricks bought and will soon start to construct the fence as well. Also the committee was encouraged to continue working with the sanitation committee and the village leaders to ensure the village maintain proper sanitation standards and manage the wells. Alex told the committee that kibo group was taking a break for Christmas and would be back next year to complete the remaining steps of guiding them to enact their borehole bylaws before the well commissioning. During this festive season, the committee should continue working together to ensure a safe water chain and proper management of both wells working closely with the leaders in the villages. The new borehole is SS far working very well and water color is still very ok and nothing like an issue has been reported with in the time so far the community has used it. The water committee was still encouraged to report any issues with the new borehole to Kibo group so that the contractors can come back and fix since we still have a guarantee of six months from Draco drilling contractors.

16052 A new borehole wall fence constructed at the new borehole in Ndhalike village. This is one of the strongest fences so far because it was reinforced with metal bars to add strength and durability to the wall. This was a partnership between Kibo group WASH and the village.
16055 Alex W checking on the standard of the new wall with Takoze, the man behind the construction of this work. This wall fence was completed two days ago by this man called Takoze who did a great job
16058 Together with the water user committee, Alex visited the lower borehole drilled by kibo group back in 2012 and was happy when he found that it had been repaired and the community is working hard to have a similar fence constructed at this wall fence. Bricks had been brought to the borehole site and will still be guided by kibo group to have it constructed
