Notes
Harriet, Suzan, tape, jeska and the madam Cissy the community development officer went to Igerera village to take some incentives to the community members who participated in the healthy and safe kitchen program. When they arrived there, they found a few members already gathered at the meeting place with the committee group chairperson. They were warmly welcomed to the village that day and Harriet suggested they first walk around the village while monitoring some program facilities before they all settled down for a meeting. Together they accepted and began visiting home to home while checking on the facilities such as the smeared buildings, the fuel efficient stoves and the high risen firewood stands. As they walked along the way, kibo staff kept on showing and explaining to the C.D.O all the activities carried out so far and how the community benefited from them especially after each member receiving a new fuel efficient stove in their kitchens. The C.D.O greatly appreciated the work done by kibo group after observing the well maintained facilities in different homes. Later after, they all walked back to the meeting place and found more members sitting with some village leaders . The chairperson L.C.1 welcomed kibo staff and then opened the meeting with a short prayer. He then requested each person to briefly introduce themselves by names and positions in the village so as to know one another more. Later after, he invited Kibogroup to take over the meeting whereby Harriet got up and first thanked all the members for maintaining all their facilities and participating in all the program activities. Each of the kibo staff got up and introduced themselves while thanking the members for participating in the program activities. Harriet also introduced the C.DO to the community, saying how she had purposely come to visit them and see any improvements and developments in the village. A few members got up and thanked kibo for the lessons and skills taught to them, they were grateful for the new improved stoves they got and how they had changed their entire lives. Harriet informed the members how they were going to receive a few gifts as a sign of appreciation for the good work done. Some of the gifts were two large saucepans for the entire group and each one to receive a piece of soap. However on hearing this, the community members got so excited and begun singing and dancing while kibo staff picked the gifts from the vehicle and bringing them to the crowd. The gifts were a sign of appreciation and also to encourage them to keep working together and think of other community development programs. The saucepans are to be used by the group especially when there’s any function taking place within the village such as parties, funerals and many more, and to cook food for the visitors or mourners. They can also be rented out for other people outside the communities while the money can be brought back to the community. The CDO witnessed as the gifts were handed over to the community which was very important and she encouraged all the members to always maintain their facilities and continue working hard together as a team for a faster development. She also encouraged the members to always market their new skills of building the stoves by building further stoves for other members at the neighboring villages. Kibo staff then thanked all the members for coming and the wished them a happy stay with their families.
