Notes
Alex was in Butabira village to meet with the leaders about a way forward to have the WASH program resume in the village after a pause that was made due to elections and Christmas break. Alex first asked the leaders if the village was still together even after the elections. Some villages get divided during these general elections and this trip was to ascertain the village feeling after the elections before work can resume in the village. Alex’s last village visit in Butabira was last year on 16/Dec/2020 and since then it’s work had paused in this village due to elections. The village leaders together with the committee members were very happy to see kibo back and promised to continue cooperating with Kibo group to improve the village sanitation standards. On a very good note, the village leaders confessed that the village never had any disputes resulting from the politics and they were very open to welcome Alex and kibo group to continue with the planned work in the village. Alex together with the village chairman, Mr. Buyinza moved to some homes in the villages and witnessed great sanitation improvements in the village and maintained facilities including sweeping of the compounds. Both the village leaders and the sanitation committee promised to start home to home visits checking on all facilities in a home and encouraging people to maintain the required standards. They will also move home to home collecting funds towards constructing the borehole wall fence and towards the new borehole construction. Alex will plan to resume work in Butabira preparing the village for the new borehole that is expected to be drilled in the village and also will update the final evaluation survey to make sure the Village is ready before the new borehole drilling.
