Introduction Manuela and Lorna went to bulyowa village to assess the community members and also teach about personal hygiene. The first lesson was to go through assessments for because it contains questions, this exercise was aimed to find out if the community members have some ideas about life skills lessons, during that exercise Manuela and Lorna would ask the participants questions which require answers, some questions were answered but some were left unanswered. After that they asked the participants which lessons should they start with they all said HIV because of the too much stigma in village which has led to high HIV transmission in that village due to marring of the widows and widowers. Objective By the end of this lesson, participants will be able to know which lessons are they going to start with. After few minutes than they cam and the teachers started to teach, they told the community members that they have two massages for them , personal hygiene and assessment form , they went on and told them that they not be afraid but only answered what they know. After that Manuela and Lorna introduced their lessons and taught about personal hygiene, they started by asking the community members that what is personal hygiene, they said it means being clean, they asked them that how people have complete home facilities none of them said yes, that they have but not complete, one of the community member said that they do have latrine, wash room , rubbish pit and kitchen. But they lost dry rack and hand washing facilities due to termites. The teachers went on and emphasized on daily baiting and washing of clothes, they told the community members that it’s so important for persons to wash him or her with clean water and soap then put on clean clothes. After that Lorna also told the community members that it’s good for them to keep their hairs and nails short to avoid germs, lice’s and other things. After that Manuela emphasized on the latrine usage , she said it’s good for them to pure ash in their latrine so that to avoid smell. Manuela went on and also asked the participants that who among them have ever talked to their children about menstrual period and management out of the forty participants, only 7 raised their hands. The rest said no, Manuela asked them whom do you want to do that for you? Manuela told them it’s their responsibility more especially the mothers and the fathers to provide for them what they they need. She encouraged them to learn to talk to their children while at early stage , she even told them to make their children to be their friends so that if they have any challenges they can feel free to share with them. Reactions from community members. They started by appreciating the life skills teacher for the lessons and they admitted that whatever was taught today they have not been doing it but they said they will start and put everything to good level.
