Notes
This was Alex’s second visit this year to Butabira after the break from politics. This visit was aimed at meeting with the local leaders and the water and sanitation committee to discuss about the water program and what needs to be done before the new borehole drilling takes place in the village. While in the meeting with the leaders, Alex asked if the leaders had continued to follow up on the specific people that were lagging behind from last year and the village chairman told Alex that those specific people had improved and were all visited to make sure. The water and sanitation committee had continued to work together and moved home to home to make sure that all the people contribute money towards constructing a borehole wall fence and towards the new borehole to be constructed in the village. The sanitation committee had continued to engage all the people to make sure that all people maintain their sanitation and hygiene standards and promote a safe water chain in the village. Alex continued to encourage the village leaders to continue encouraging all people in the village to work together for the water and sanitation program with kibo group. Butabira village in general has been very positive during this whole program of WASH to improve their sanitation standards, contributed money towards the repair of their broken well and now responding very well to contribute money towards borehole wall fence construction and for the new borehole to be drilled in their village. Alex then visited some of the homes in the village and saw that many of the homes had maintained their standards. The village has so far contributed more 350,000/= towards their borehole wall fence construction and for the new borehole expected soon in the village and the village continues to raise more. Alex will go back and continue to encourage the village residents to maintain their sanitation facility standards and make sure that the village meets all required standards before the new borehole drilling. Alex will have to update all the homes in the third survey to reflect the sanitation and standards of the village before the new borehole drilling takes place in the village.
