Notes
Suzan went to the village to meet with the local leaders and discuss the progress of the healthy and safe kitchens program and discuss the way forward to the continuation of the program activities. When she arrived there she went straight to chairperson’s home where she found three members already gathered under a mango tree. She was warmly welcomed to the village and together they sat down and first discussed about the current village status concerning the program activities. The group chairperson madam kawanguzi informed Suzan about some activities which had recently resumed such as building stoves for some members who participated but didn’t have kitchens by then. She said so far they had built four more stoves but the main challenge they faced at times was looking for the particular grass which was a bit scarce at that time. She also said more new members requested the group to build for them the improved stoves after seeing the old members enjoying it’s benefits. However they would charge them a little because the work was abit tiresome. Almost all the members were now cooking on their new improved stoves with no worries and had maintained other facilities such as smearing their kitchens and other buildings as well as building the firewood stands inside their kitchens. This was so encouraging to hear and Suzan thanked the leaders for putting in much effort to carry out the program activities even when Kibo staffs were absent. She only encouraged them to always maintain the same spirit of working together as a team for an effective development, and the meeting came to an end.
