- Notes
- Jeska went to Naisamula village to follow up on the stove usage, smearing and firewood storages. This was a surprise visit whereby she reached in the village when no one was expecting her.
When she reached in the village she was welcomed by one of the community members at the same time the Chairperson of the Healthy and safe kitchen program who volunteered to walk with her through the homes as she expected the stoves, firewood storages and smearing.
Most of the homes she visited were cooking on their stoves on daily basis , this was evidenced by the absence of three stones fire and even finding food cooking by itself or being attended by children.
One member testified that the stoves has improved their marriage relationship because they are able to cook food very first unlike when they were coking on the traditional three stones fire. Because with the fuel efficient stoves they are able to cook two things at ago for example cooking food and sauce at the same time . She added that the stove gives them an opportunity to keep food warm because even after cooking it remains home therefore if a wife finishes cooking food before the husband coming back she can keep the husband food on the stove which will keep it warm.
Jeska also found out that most participants had firewood risen stands well stocked with firewood and the women told her that they are not worried of firewood scarcity even when it starts raining .
Also as far as smearing most participants have smeared their kitchens and stoves.Jeska encouraged them to maintain their home facilities in order for them to last longer.
The community thanked kibo for encouraging them and visiting them in their village which has helped them to improve on their life.
