Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the sustainability of the healthy and safe kitchens program and the stove usage in the village. She was welcomed by the chairperson whom she found coming back from his garden. Suzan briefly sat down and informed the chairperson the purpose for her visit that day which was to follow up on some facilities and find out how far the members had gone with the program activities. The chairperson also briefly shared with Suzan what was carried out so far such as building stoves for new members at their neighboring villages, smearing their other buildings and also the members were effectively cooking on their new improved stoves. She then requested to walk her around the village so that she have a look at some facilities and the stove usage. As they were preparing to walk around, they were joined by more three group members who walked along with them. On their way, Suzan observed that most buildings had been well smeared, the big children were also found helping their parents with house work such as cooking food washing dishes, and cleaning the compound. Suzan kept on encouraging the members to continue working together as a team and also see that they taught their children more skills especially smearing stoves, houses and repairing other facilities. The members reported that the stoves were really cooking very well and they no longer faced the challenges they got while cooking on the old three stones open flames. Their husbands also helped them to carry out some activities such as roofing the kitchens and other buildings as well as cooking food sometimes whenever they were away from home got busy with other work. She then wished them well and promised to check on the other members in the next coming visit.
