Notes
Alex together with all the village leaders reached all the households in the village while conducting a baseline survey of the village. This is a step in WASH to get to know the village sanitation and hygiene status before WASH can start to work in the village. This will help kibo to compare the village progress as it will be conducting its activities in WASH. The village will also understand how they are progressing in improving their sanitation and hygiene standards. It’s after this survey that the village leaders together with kibo group WASH program will plan and prepare the community for triggering of the village. Alex will plan to go back and share the evaluation findings/ results with the village leaders and decide on the date to carry out triggering in open defecation and set the ball rolling for the village to start improving its sanitation and hygiene standards. The village leaders are very happy to see kibo group in their village and appreciated Alex for coming to see the village current sanitation status. There are some homes that have maintained their sanitation and hygiene standards and there are some hand washing tippy taps observed in some homes. Another organization called plan international has been to the village before and so the community knows some how what to be done but majority of the facilities were not up to standards and there were so many cases of open defecation seen while conducting this survey.89 homes were reached
