Village
Buluvu
Program
Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan and Diana went to the village to carry out the first evaluation process usually after implementing the program. When they reached there, they were welcomed by the village VHt and the group chairperson madam joweria and namukose. They sat down and briefly explained the purpose for the visit that day which was to conduct the first evaluation process. Together they agreed and began walking around the village while visiting house to house for those who participated in the program activities. This was important because the staff needed to find out how many new stoves were built, and if the members were using them effectively and on daily basis. It was also important to find out if there were any challenges faced while cooking on the stoves so that they would would find possible solutions for them. As they moved, they kept on observing different facilities such as the dish racks, shower areas, latrines. Rubbish pits, firewood storages and kitchens while asking the participants different questions concerning them. Most members had improved on their sanitation and hygiene facilities and were happily cooking on their new stoves. A few members needed to improve and reconstruct their facilities because they looked worn out. Suzan thanked them for the good work carried out and wished them a happy stay.
