Notes
Tom made a visit to Mpumiro village to carry out a borehole survey with surveyors from Draco company. When Tom and the surveyors arrived in the village, they found when the chairman and the water user committee members were already gathered at the meeting place as well as many other village residents. Tom first addressed the gathering were he welcomed everyone and the surveyors and encouraged every village resident to participate. Tom also emphasized the point that no one knows were the water will be but that only God knows. He called upon all village members to be open minded about whenever the water point will be discovered as it will still benefit the community. After Tom one of the surveyors also spoke were he encouraged the community to work together and to not have any differences as a result of a borehole. He said Kibo is there to bless everyone with an opportunity to have clean wate Before they started Moving, Tom asked the community members if they have any preferred locations. Tom also reiterated that whenever the point will be located, that person will have to give up and bless the community with a piece of land so that a borehole could be drilled. As they started surveying, they started from the first preferred locations. The first location showed no sign of water as well as the second, third, fourth, fifth locations. This was very hard for the community. They felt discouraged but the chairman, the surveyors as Tom kept encouraging the community not to give up hope. After moving in all the five locations but with no success, the surveyor decided to walk the village and see about other location. He later came back and said according to his observation of the land, he felt that the chances were small but he did not rule out getting a water point in the village. He addressed the village and suggested to the village residents that a visit be made back to the village to survey for a second time. This was encouraging to the community because they felt they had no any other chance. Tom also encouraged the village members not to loose hope but continued with collecting money for the borehole contribution as well as finishing their facilities.
