- Notes
- Enock, visited this community to continue encouraging, teaching p, monitoring and evaluate the progress of latrine construction, dish rack , shower areas, kitchen areas, rubbish pits and hand washing stands more so in homes which are lagging behind before we carry out the final evaluation survey. There has been some great response in the community and the local leaders are appreciative for all the lessons which have emphasized the core values and importance of having proper sanitation and hygiene in there homes. The chairman testified to us how many homes had poor sanitation before kibo wash team came to there village. They are greatly seeing change in many homes, increase health benefits and unity in there community with good cooperation. There are homes which were lagging behind and most of them are working towards improving their sanitation and change form the old behaviors of open defecation and understanding the importance and core values of having and using latrines. Many homes and families have developed confidence amongst to speak up even in meeting to give opinions unlike before when they felt ashamed of not having proper sanitation.
There are five homes which lost latrines due to poor construction and heavy rainfalls. This gave me an opportunity to continue educating and encouraging the residents to construct good standard latrine facilities. I left an assignment to the local leaders to take more responsibility to encourage the residents to construct good standard facilities more so in homes which are lagging behind.
