Introduction Manuela went to Kagulu village to teach about personal hygiene and also to assess the topic and the lessons under Life Skills curriculum, this activities are aimed at letting the community members to understand all what they are going to learn in life skills, and the life skills teacher to get know what the village is going through and how to manage those problems. Overview Manuela reached Kagulu and found members seated waiting for her, she greeted them and appreciated them for being in time, Manuela went on and extended her appreciation to the mobilizing team for the grate work they did during baseline moving home to home. After that, Manuela introduced to the community members what they are going to learn, she told them that they are going to start by assessing the lessons and topics under Life Skills curriculum then later they will study about personal hygiene. During the assessment time, Manuela would ask the participants questions about Life Skills and they would either respond yes or no basing on the current status in the community. For example when Manuela asked them that is HIV a problem in this village, they yes, because people living with HIV virus are still in stigma, they can’t tell people that they are HIV positive and that has led to the increased transmissions in this village which is bad. Manuela went on and even asked about the girl child education, one of the members said that since the majority of people in that village are Muslim and they don’t support girl child education they tend to marry off their daughter to old rich men, so he went ahead and requested Manuela to put much efforts in that because they are having problems of early pregnancy and marriage in that community. After that, Manuela said she will try to talk to parents about the value of education and students too. Manuela told them that though Life is active in the community only theses days, she will try and go to school and talk to the pupils on her way back to JInja. Manuela also asked them about communication in their homes, one woman said that, men are to rude to them and their children more especially they are drunk and maybe they don’t have money they speak arrogantly and some time they insult them with bad wards. Even the men complained the same that means Manuela needs to teach about communication skills too. Manuela went on asked several questions about problems in their village, they said they have a lot but slowly they will tackle them, she also asked them about how they managed to share their relationship with their children and their loved ones they said not good at all because the men said their women said don’t love them and even the women said the same that means Manuela needs to teach that one also. After that Manuela also taught about personal hygiene, she started by asking the community members about their home facilities like latrines, kitchen, wire for hanging their clothing's dish rack, bathroom and rabbis pit, they said that some they have but the rest of that are incomplete, Manuela went on and told them that it good have all those thinks so that avoid disease. Manuela also taught them about the importance of washing their hands after visiting latrines and before handling food. but due time Manuela did not finish this lesson but she plans to continue with in the nest visit. During that lesson Manuela demonstrated on they should be washing their hands with soap and ash, Manuela told them that it's good to use ash always in the latrine and for washing their hands too though they don't soap, they can use ash all the time, she also advised them to teach their children too. Finally Manuela told them that in the next visit they will continue with the previous lesson and later learn about value of education.
