Irene went to Igerera B to teach about the importance of postnatal and post abortion care. The meeting started with a word from the VHT who thanked the members for turning up in big numbers for the lesson. She also sent her condolences to the chairman who had gone for burial in the neighboring district and encouraged the members to comfort and support him when he returns. The VHT then invited Irene to take up the meeting. Irene welcomed the members and appreciated their turn up, she also encouraged the members not to give up but show full participation in each program that comes to their village. Irene then introduced the lesson as importance of postnatal and post abortion care, and also the results of neglected care. Brain storming for the meaning of postnatal, and benefits where, Aisha mentioned the body will be able to recover faster from the pre-pregnancy state, one will enjoy motherhood,feel less tired or fatigued,will be able to get back to pre-pregnancy body faster and the baby will be a happier baby. Irene also discuss me of the Barriers to proper postnatal care and Isma access to the health facilities and attitude of the health workers always discourages the women from returning for postnatal services, Lack of family and community support practices for the new mother said madina , and poverty which leads to poor feeding and lack of basic needs. The group further discussed the requirements for proper postnatal care and some were discussed like, eat fruits,warming food like hot soups,do not diet,Have regular three meals with some snack breaks throughout the day, have some rest,always ask for help. Irene also discussed the signs and symptoms of abortion and the members mentioned,Bleeding which progresses from light to heavy,Severe cramps,Abdominal,pain,Fever, weakness,Back pain and that Most miscarriages happen when the unborn baby has fatal genetic problems. Usually, these problems are unrelated to the mother causes of miscarriage include,Infection,Medical conditions in the mother,Physical problems in the mother. MANAGEMENT: Visit the government health center or hospital Incase one gets any of the following signs. Those were some of the things discussed.
