Notes
Alex b and Chris went to Nabituluntu village and met 13 members including 7 women and 5 men most of whom were the committee members. The meeting was intended to discuss about the group activities and finally come up with one or two projects the group will start working on in order to make their group functional. The group activities included poultry, saving schemes, commercial farming , piggery and environmental conservation . Alex b and Chris organized this meeting because they felt that before members could start working on and project, they had to first analyze and study every project to know the challenges and benefits. The chairperson introduced the activities and requested members by show of hands and giving reasons choose which project would be easy for them to operate, out of the 13 members , 7 members chose piggery, members gave different reasons, those whose who chose piggery said they have experience in piggery, in fact three of the members rear pigs at their homes, so they pledged to teach their colleagues how to take care of the pigs and benefit from them. Chris advised the group chairperson to set up a project committee that will help to spearhead the project activities, Chris said the project committee will be responsible for accountability, record keeping, organizing seminars for the group members by bringing experienced personnel to teach the group their project and many others. Chris said that what the group should focus on is the affordability of the project and how to start it, he said the6 should not think of starting big but start with small capital they will manage to sustain as they keep on growing big. Alex b advised the group to make sure that they accommodate their colleagues from different religions like the Muslims who will not be comfortable with piggery however Mrs Halima who is the only Muslim in the group said as long it is what will keep the group together and develop them , she is okay with. Alex b and Chris will be going back to nabituluntu to continue guiding the community as they assess the piggery project and agree on a number of issues including the location of the project and responsibilities of the members.
