Notes
Alex, the community development officer of Bugaya Mr. Baguma and the health assistant Mr. Peter moved home to home in Kitukiro village checking on all facilities most especially the pit latrine required in every home. There were many new pit latrines under construction and some had been completed in some homes. Alex together with the government officials continued to encourage and guide people to work on standard facilities in their homes. There is a general sanitation improvement in the village seeing many new facilities in the homes visited. Dish racks, rubbish pits and pit latrines are the main facilities being worked on by the people. One lady who is a widow called zipola has completed working on all required sanitation facilities in her home. Also the homes that had already the required facilities have gone a head to smear them. The sanitation committee together with the village chairman Mr. Kaluya have been encouraged to remain active working in their village to ensure that the village meets the required sanitation standards. However the village residents need to work on facilities that meet the standards and the sanitation need to ensure this in all the homes. Also the village has so far demonstrated a great improvement and the government officials were amazed by what had been done so far. There is however need to encourage people to work on standard facilities and the homes still lagging behind like Mboira’s home need more effort to improve. During a rain season like this one now, many people tend to be very busy in their gardens but the sanitation committee was encouraged to remain active in encouraging people to work in their homes. The health assistant and the community development officer promised to continue visiting this village to help speed up the sanitation and hygiene improvements in Kitukiro.
