Notes
Irene went to Ituba Namalowe to teach about family planning basically the different types of family planning, examples, the benefits to the mother, children, father and community, also teaching about the barriers to getting family planning services. The meeting started with a word from the chairman who thanked the members for turning up,thanked kibo for their support towards the development of their village, and encouraged the members to embrace the lessons as they have done to all the kibo activities that have been to their village. He then welcomed the health education teacher to go ahead with the lessons. Irene started with a review of the previous lesson, then asked the members what they understand by family planning. It’s how one decides on spacing their children said Aisha, where as musa said it’s when a couple decides on how many children to have, on addition to that Irene said it’s when an individual or a couple decides on the number of children and the time frame. Irene further went to discuss the two different types of family planning which are the artificial and natural methods giving specific examples of each like the IUD, Implant, injectable and others. With the different examples Irene further discussed the different ways of how each method is applied and the period of use, giving the possible side effects of each. After Irene discussed the benefits to the mother, children, father and the community encouraging members to have few children they can offer the best basic needs, give them love, and spend time with because with the change in generations there is no more saying that each child comes with their own blessing. Irene also informed he members that for any side effects and information on any family planning method individuals should go to a qualified medical service provider to get the best method.
