Notes
Ida and Diana went to Bukudgumira to continue with parenting skills(good and bad parenting). The chairman and the community welcomed us, and thanked us for loving them alway. Ida and Diana thanked them for keeping time and leaving all their work to come and attend the community empowerment lessons. Ida took them through a recap of what they learnt in the previous lesson of parenting, Anita, said that parenting is making the children be independent, learn to share and respect their parents. Ida thanked her for the good answer. Ida taught them about bad parenting, she told them that parents have a habit of undressing before their children, which is not good for the development of the child. She also taught that some mothers have a tendency of eating meat or chicken on fire or while cooking, when children watch them do that, they see it as a normal thing to do, thereby affecting the morals of the child. Quarreling before the children, has also affected the development of the children. Children will see this as a normal thing to do. When children grow up, they will look at quarreling and fighting as a normal thing to do, thereby promoting domestic violence in the community. Parents also have a tendency of abusing the the children verbally and emotional neglect that is not minding about how a child feels. Ida elaborated on these points as the community members attentively listened. Diana continued with the lesson of good parenting. Diana told the parents to keep embracing love in their children. Love is key in parenting. Parents should show love to their children. Parents should avoid shouting and threatening their children. They should not do things for their children, instead they should teach them. Be a good role model to children, because children imitate what they see. Parents should help their children to develop resilience and perseverance. Parents should know that happy homes are good for the development of the child. The community was so happy to receive such lessons. They un controllably kept clapping their hands as Ida and Diana sat down. Margret the chairperson Kibo, kept thanking Kibo for the beautiful lessons they give to them, and encouraged the community to keep attending to such lessons, because they will change Bukudhumira community.
