Notes
Diana and Ida went to Nawandyo B to teach about Harmony and unity in marriage. The community had already gathered and were ready for the lesson. They welcomed us and thanked us for daring the rains in order to teach them. Diana and Ida thanked them too for keeping time and loving the community empowerment lessons. Diana told them to clap for themselves, for keeping time and leaving their gardens behind in order to attend the lessons. Diana took them through a recap asking them what they remember from the previous lesson, Sarah said that she remembers the story of Hannah, trusting God, she said that it is something that two people in a relationship can build together. Diana thanked Sarah and instructed the rest of the members to clap for her. Diana told them in building a relationship, there should be love in the family most especially the marrieds. This led to the introduction of Harmony and unity in marriage, they were excited for this lesson. Kamadi said that Harmony and unity in marriage means, a man and woman staying together. Sumaya said it is when husband and wife get married and produce children. Diana thanked them for their beautiful answers. Diana asked them to demonstrate how they welcome their husbands from work others were shy while others knelt down to greet their husbands as a sign of respect. Ida and Diana demonstrated how wives should welcome their husbands, which caused a lot of laughter amongst the members. Others said, there husbands are unfriendly. Ida took over and demonstrated how words can be misinterpreted using a telephone game. She told them that most times poor communication has destroyed the unity in marriage, when people hear words, they deliver wrong messages. She asked them how many couples have one bed in their bedrooms, few people put up their hands. She taught husband and wife have to practice patience, keep a humble heart, avoid pointing fingers, cook together, on mentioning cook together men said that women will make it a daily routine for men to cook. Ida told them that, it is not the case, it is mutual understanding and respect that will promote harmony and unity in marriage. She taught that, there are magical words that run marriage that is “am sorry and thank you”. She continued explaining to the community why harmony and unity in marriage is important. The community was happy to receive such lessons and said, with these lessons, Nawandyo B will be transformed.
