Notes
Harriet and Jeska went to Kazimba Kungira village to continue teaching participants how to practically build stoves. This time they wanted to build the second stove in this village. They reached in the village and found and found a few participants at the meeting place but after a few minutes other participants turned up for the meeting. They had already finished chopping grass that will be enough to build a stove for the day. Kibo staff asked the participants to chose among them selves the participants to get a stove that day. The participants chose Namuhini Gorret as the participants to get a stove in their group. Kibo staff asked the group to prove that she has all the requirements needed to get a stove. They all walked to her home and found when she had all the home facilities like a latrine, a shower area ,a kitchen and were well smeared. Kibo staff together with the participants collected the dirt from the anti hill, Kibo staff mixed the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1. They also sprinkled water into the mixture and asked the participants to join and stamp the dirt until it got ready. Kibo staff also measured the banana stems that will be used to build stoves. They did this as they explained the whole process to the participants. Kibo staff later built the stove as they explained the whole process to the participants as the participants were watching and asking questions that kibo staff responded too. After the stove was complete, kibo staff asked the participants to draw down how the complete stove looks like , unfortunately they all filled. Kibo staff encouraged them to keep on attending the lessons so that they can be able to learn. They also encouraged them to always participate because practice makes perfect. The participants thanked kibo for the Healthy and safe kitchen program in their village and promised to keep on practicing until they master a. Skill of building stoves. Kibo staff encouraged them to continue smearing their home facilities in preparation of getting more stoves in their village.
