Notes
Irene went to Naisamula to visit homes checking on the general hygiene of homes, pregnant women, breast feeding mothers, nutrition and also continue mobilizing members for the next meeting. Irene was impressed that most of the homes she visited had improved in their hygiene, some mothers have tried to make return visits to the hospitals for their appointment, and the babies were healthy. Irene then visited one of the pregnant mothers who shared with her that she barely gets something to eat with her children so the children feed on sugarcane for lunch some times, the husband doesn’t stay home he comes back in the night so she is always left alone with her children. Irene asked the mother if they could move to the house and check on the condition of the beddings where she slept and the children. On entering the house she saw that one of the children was sleeping on the floor without any mattress and she had covered with an old cloth, so the mother explained that the baby had flue so she had given him some tablets and she told him to rest. The mother still told Irene that she was also sick and was on treatment,so Irene encouraged her to still go back for review so that the medical worker can examine her and the condition of her baby. Irene still advised the mother to smear her house so as to avoid dust, and other infections that come with dust, still Irene asked the mother not to sleep with chicken in her house because it’s not healthy and hygienic.Irene also asked the mother to talk to the local leaders about the condition she is in with her husband so that they can intervene in their problems. Irene then continued to the other homes talking to the different members according to the condition of the home.
